Top 5 Things to Do with Kids in Phoenix

The Phoenix Zoo

Looking for an adventure? Located in the heart of Phoenix, The Phoenix Zoo is a fantastic choice for kids and families of all ages and is my top recommendation for things to do with kids in Phoenix. From playful primates to majestic big cats, it’s a wildlife wonderland right in the heart of the desert. Additionally, don’t miss out on giraffe feedings and camel rides, because these experiences will leave your kids in awe.

Their Zoolights event runs Nov through Dec and features a beautiful holiday lightshow, great for the whole family!  Since the Phoenix Zoo offers both fun and educational activities, kids will both be learning while having a great time.  In other words, the Phoenix Zoo is a must-visit for families.

Wildlife World Zoo

If you’re willing to venture a little further out of central Phoenix and want a closer encounter with exotic creatures, head to the Wildlife World Zoo in Litchfield Park. This place is like a Noah’s Ark of rare and endangered species. Furthermore, kids can feed giraffes, play with otters, and explore the underwater wonders of the aquarium.  The animals are in larger areas so you can see them in a more natural setting while being a safe distance away.  One of my favorite animals to view are the American Bison – so huge and majestic!

Since it’s an interactive experience, the Wildlife World Zoo fosters a deep love for our planet’s diverse wildlife. If you’re lucky, they sometimes have a nursery filled with baby animals like panthers and cheetahs!

Schnepf Farms

If you’re craving a taste of country and homestead life, Schnepf Farms offers just that. From picking your own fruits and veggies, to meeting and petting friendly farm animals, there’s a lot to do and explore. Fun for all ages, the farm also offers seasonal attractions like pumpkin patches and hayrides!

When the sun and weather in Phoenix cool down, a visit to an interactive farm is the perfect wholesome outdoor adventure that creates cherished memories. In other words, Schnepf Farms is an extremely enjoyable destination for families.

Butterfly Wonderland

You and your kids will be utterly amazed when you experience the Butterfly Wonderland. This indoor rainforest conservatory is home to thousands of vibrant butterflies. Kids can watch in awe as these delicate creatures flutter and dance around them. Additionally, the educational displays offer insights into the fascinating life cycle of these winged wonders. You’ll get the opportunity to see butterflies emerge from their chrysalises, get up close to their reptiles and amphibians and even observe foraging honeybees.

Taking your kids to the Butterfly Wonderland will be an educational adventure that will spark curiosity and wonder in their young minds.

McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park

All aboard for family fun at the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park! Bordering Scottsdale and Phoenix, this large outdoor park has a myriad of entertaining activities for kids.  Firstly, you can choose between their train rides which run on weekends and their outdoor carousel.  Secondly they have a couple playgrounds, built with different ages and stages in  mind.  And lastly, there is a really interesting museum dedicated to the history of railroading.  For your kid who is obsessed with trains and automotives, this park is perfect! Families and their kids can explore the world of locomotives while enjoying the open air.
