What to Expect During Your Family Photo Session

If you’re starting to look ahead at fall and want to plan your family photo session, you might be wondering what a photo session with me might look like. All I can say is, get ready for a stress-free and enjoyable experience! Having had my own family photographed in the past, I know how important it is to be guided by my photographer and let her do her thing, while I sit back and enjoy my family. That being said, it also helps to know what to expect during the actual photo session. In this blog post, I’ll walk you through what you can expect during your Phoenix family photo session, highlighting the relaxed and interactive approach I take to capture those precious moments.

Your Family Photo Session shouldn’t be stiff or boring

First things first, let’s let the kids be themselves! When we start the photoshoot, I encourage them to move around, explore, and be curious about the surroundings. It’s important to let them feel comfortable and engaged in their environment. This allows for authentic and candid moments to unfold, capturing their unique personalities and genuine expressions. It also allows everyone to start to relax and get comfortable with me.

Getting the Classic Family Photo

Of course, we’ll also get that classic family photo where everyone is looking at the camera and giving their best smiles. It’s a timeless shot that captures the essence of your beautiful family. I’ll make sure to guide and direct everyone, so we capture that picture-perfect moment with ease.

Being Silly during your Family Photo Session

Laughter is the best medicine, especially during a family photoshoot! We’ll have some fun with tickles, silly faces, and playful interactions. This brings out the genuine joy and laughter that truly represent your family’s unique dynamics. It’s all about creating a relaxed and lighthearted atmosphere where everyone can enjoy the experience together.

Individual and Group Shots: Intermittent Breaks and Movement

To keep things exciting and avoid boredom, we’ll alternate between individual shots of the kids and group shots of the entire family. This allows the kids to have intermittent breaks and move around freely. I want them to feel comfortable and happy during the session, so capturing their true spirit becomes effortless.

Making your Family Photo Session Fun & Varied

Let’s add an extra element of fun and energy to the photoshoot! We can incorporate activities like climbing, running, or playing ball, depending on the location and your family’s preferences. These activities not only bring out the playful side of your children but also create dynamic and vibrant moments that represent their adventurous spirits and personalities. I like to encourage exploration in the area where we are shooting so kids can feel adventurous and forget that I’m there. This allows for different backgrounds and ‘looks’ within your final photo gallery.

Capturing Moments with You and Your Husband: Sweet and Relaxed

Now, it’s time for some beautiful moments between you and your husband. Don’t worry—I’m here to help you with posing and provide tips to create sweet and relaxed interactions in front of the camera. Whether it’s a gentle embrace, a loving look, or a shared laugh, we’ll capture the love and connection that highlights your connection and partnership.

Finishing your Family Photo Session with Snuggles

As we near the end of the photoshoot, we’ll wrap up with some snuggly moments on a cozy blanket. This is a perfect opportunity for the entire family to come together, cuddle up, and enjoy some intimate time. These shots capture the warmth, love, and togetherness that defines your family bond.

Since I know you want a family photo session where your kids can be themselves and where genuine moments of love and laughter are documented, I hope this gave you a good sense of what you can expect during a family photo session with me. I’m here to guide and support you every step of the way, creating beautiful memories that you’ll look back on with warmth for a lifetime.
